A 14 month-old boy is found with heart defects. The Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville Kentucky knows that he needs surgery, but with multiple defects, it would be difficult to see precisely what was wrong until you were in the operation itself. The successful Feb. 10 surgery at Kosair marked what hospital officials say was the first use of 3-D printing for a pediatric heart patient in Kentucky.

Asda Offering In - Store 3D Printing of Anything – Video

Asda has set up a service whereby shippers can scan and replicate anything in ceramic. The service will launch on October 15 at Asda's York store and should spread all over the US if the trial proves successful. A special scanning camera captures the contours and shapes of an object, identifying up to 6 million different colors.

Microsoft debuts 3D printing app for Windows 8.1

Microsoft has released a 3D printing application for Windows 8.1 called 3D Builder. It allows users to view, design and prepare objects for printing and includes a library of editable objects to help users familiarize themselves with the software.
